This is my Black Friday Resistance stance! It's Thanksgiving week and sales this weekend are almost too good to resist, but I challenge us to resist. Why am I so against Black Friday? Only read on if you really want to know.
Black Friday feeds on our consumerism more than any other day of the year! With the exception of a few ethical brands that will have some sales on Black Friday, your big fast fashion and major retailers want to get you in the door with too good to pass up deals so you will shop beyond your means. The worst part is these "too good to pass up" deals were most likely made by women who are either slaves or not receiving a livable wage to make the merchandise. Listen to Kohl from Krochet Kids share about why fashion and cheap labor is a problem.
A Few Notes:
1 in 6 people work as part of the fashion industry.
Fashion is a 3 trillion dollar business.
2nd largest polluter on the planet, not to mention the human rights issues (like slavery and child labor).
